Volunteers wanted

Metropolitan Golf Links is now accepting volunteers for On Course Diplomats and Starters. All shifts are six hours long, one day per week. Here are some of the benefits:

-Almost unlimited stand-by free golf privileges (no play before shotgun tournaments)

-One free medium bucket of range balls per day

-Use of the short game practice area

-50% off meals and drinks while on duty

As a former starter, I can tell you this is a great deal. The job is fun. Metro treats you well. The benefits are terrific, and there are only a few restrictions. You pay $6 for a power cart (I usually walk anyway); and customers always go before volunteers if there's a waiting list. The best On Course Diplomats and Starters are efficient, patient, diplomatic, friendly and golf-smart.

You can pick up an application in the Golf Shop. Tell 'em the Linksblogger sent ya.

Scott,

Can't speak for Florida, but it seems to be common practice 'round these parts to compensate volunteer starters and marshalls (we call them "Diplomats" at Metro) with some level of in-kind golf.
